Secret Gardens of Winster Saturday 17th July and Sunday 18th July 2010, 1.30pm to 5.30pm Winster is a picturesque and historic Derbyshire village, 5 miles from Matlock and Bakewell.
On one weekend each year, a large number of residents open their gardens to their neighbours and to visitors from further afield. This year we expect to have over 20 gardens open each day. Visitors follow a garden trail around the streets and alleys of the village, exploring a wide variety of gardens. There is a Gnome Hunt for children, and a wide range of refreshments. There will be plants from Winster-based Peak Cottage Plants, and quality local crafts for sale, and there will be live Jazz in one of the gardens each day. The event is run in aid of the Burton Institute, Winster's award-winning village hall, and other Winster organisations. See pictures in the Yearbook.
New Walks for Thursdays.Pete Harris has proposed, and will lead a series of walks. These walks will start at 10.30am and will be for a length of approx 4 - 5 miles, and finish at a pub around lunchtime/early afternoon.People should still take a packed lunch or if they wish lunch could be available at the pub. These walks are intended for current Hinckley and other R.A. members who, feel that the current 8 mile walks are too long. These walks will be at an easier pace and will try to ensure that they are with limited stiles and difficult terain. For further details contact Pete Harris on 01455 - 449677
