This Weeks Walks: Pete's Rambling #175                                                                Site Updated  22nd May

Hinckley Ramblers Articles  45 Years

May 22nd   National Forest Way (NFW) Day 1: 9:00 a.m. saw seven Hinckley ramblers meet at Branston Water Park, near Burton Upon Trent. Tony Smith and Mike I'Anson were joined by Sue Butterworth, Julie Rock, Brian Knight, John Sutton and Clive Williams, all determined to complete this long-distance footpath. We car-shared to the National Memorial Arboretum where our walk began in bright sunshine which luckily lasted all day. Our route took us west to Alrewas and then north to Yoxall. Unfortunately a pub stop wasn't possible today but we managed to create our own 'pop-up' pub in Brakenhurst Wood, near Hoar Cross, where we enjoyed our lunch. In the afternoon we passed St George's Park National Football Centre before continuing on through Rangemoor and Tatenhill and finally reaching our cars at Branston. A good start with about seventeen miles completed today.
